About

 Client Centric. Diligent. Compassionate.

Background

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Erickson was a business executive for leading corporations and brings to her law practice superior problem solving skills and a focus on resolving legal issues before court proceedings. However, if legal issues escalate to court proceedings, Erickson will zealously represent her clients.

Erickson's background includes an education in the natural sciences, art and creative writing, an honors M.B.A., and a law degree. In 2009, Erickson received a commendation for her volunteer services with the Legal Self-Help Center of Marin County.  She was a summer extern to Judge James Ware, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, and a law clerk to Judge Edward Prochaska, a supervising civil court judge in Illinois state court.

Ms. Erickson also provides contract litigation support to large law firms in the Bay Area and served as a member of a trial team in securities litigation for a mid-sized law firm in San Francisco that resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement.

Karyn L. Erickson

Erickson embarked on a career in the law after a successful business career with international corporations.  Upon completing her undergraduate education, Erickson was introduced to an entrepreneurial CEO who saw untapped potential in Erickson and offered her a position in his Chicago start-up company. That CEO changed the course of Erickson's life and launched her career in business where she worked with some of the world's largest consumer packaged-good manufacturers.  Entrepreneurial in her own right, Erickson's later dream was to establish an income-based attorney service and, in 2013, Erickson launched her solo practice while also providing litigation support to other attorneys and law firms.

Karyn Erickson is a synonym of efficiency, rigorousness, cleverness and responsiveness. I [would] highly recommend her for any matter, not even only for tenant-landlord cases, since she is, in my opinion clever enough to tackle any kind of subject. If anyone is still wondering if she could be a potential good attorney for your case, I would advise you to be safe and run with her at your side, since she will not be a good attorney but an outstanding one.” -  E.L, Berkeley Tenant, Alameda County

“I [had a] consultation with Karyn related to tenancy issues and she went above and beyond. She took the time to understand my legal issues, and provided excellent advice and counsel…I would highly recommend her services as a Tenants’ Right Attorney.” - L.H., Menlo Park Tenant and Attorney, San Mateo County

To evict my wife and me, the new owners of our rental unit employed the ruse of backdating the eviction notice to a time prior to their [property] acquisition. Being seniors and my wife being disabled, it became clear that we would be unable to comply with the illegal [owner-move-in notice], leading us to secure the legal defense services of Attorney Erickson. In preparing our defense against a potential unlawful detainer action, Karyn performed significant case law research, integrating it into an impressively astute motion to quash. Indeed, with each legal document she authored, Karyn exhibited an extraordinary command of tenant rights law. Additionally, and importantly, throughout our very stressful ordeal, Karyn continually checked in with us to apprise us of developments in our case and provide counsel regarding our best course of action. She also made ample contact with the new owners to apprise them of both our rights and their responsibilities under the law. Only days before a possible court showdown, Karyn’s determined efforts paid off, impelling the new homeowners to back down and grant us the full 60 days to vacate as permitted by law. Without reservation, we both enthusiastically recommend Ms. Erickson’s services.” - N.B. and B.S, Richmond Tenants, Contra Costa County
